Dr. Li is a principal investigator at Institute for Translational Brain Research (ITBR) and Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University. Shibin earned his PhD from Heidelberg University in 2014, through the PhD program at Max-Planck-Institute for Medical Research in Heidelberg, Germany. In 2015, he joined Prof. Luis de Lecea’s laboratory at Stanford University School of Medicine where he worked as a postdoc, a research scientist, and an instructor. He joined ITBR as an independent research group leader in 2022. His group focuses on clarifying the mechanisms underlying sleep disorders associated with aging and stress, developing therapeutic strategies for such disorders, and neuroimmune modulation. He has authored 20 publications on peer-reviewed academic journals including Science, Science Advances, Nature Neuroscience, Nature Communications, Cell Reports, Sleep, Neuropharmacology, Cerebral Cortex, Neuroscience etc. He is a recipient of the Outstanding Early Investigator Award by the Sleep Research Society, and he received the Career Development Award from the Sleep Research Society Foundation, USA. He was awarded the NARSAD Young Investigator Award by the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation, USA. He served as a guest editor for Frontiers in Neuroscience, and a reviewer for academic journals including Nature Neuroscience, Nature Metabolism, Cell Reports, Sleep, Neuropharmacology, Behavioral Brain Research etc.
