Mechanism of action potential initiation in neocortical inhibitory interneurons

We performed patch-clamp recording from axon blebs of cortical inhibitory interneurons (PV and SST cells). Differences in voltage dependence of their AIS Na+ channels result from distinct distribution patterns of channel subtypes. Nav1.1 channels are expressed by both PV and SST neurons, while Nav1.2 is only found in SST cells. Li et al., 2014.
